HHCI has long-standing roots in Arizona and is excited to be back and working on various projects within utility and gas construction. Los Angeles, CA – November 17, 2022 – Hal Hays Construction Inc., was awarded the 2022 MBE of Excellence Award, presented by The Southern California Minority Supplier Development Council (SCMSDC). HHCI was celebrated for their spirit, generosity, and commitment to support the council’s mission, fellow MBE’s, their Native-American community, and 2^nd tier MBE’s.

This award was accepted on behalf of Hal Hays Construction, Inc. by Kirby Hays, President/CEO.

During his acceptance speech, he shared the importance of the people that make-up Hal Hays Construction. He also acknowledged the outreach and support HHCI gives to the local, off-reservation boarding high school for Native Americans and dedicated this award to the students and staff at Sherman Indian High School in Riverside, CA.

Las Vegas, NV – May 25, 2022: Honoree Reception at Cromwell Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada

On May 25, 2022, Kirby Hays, President/CEO of Hal Hays Construction Inc (HHCI), was honored with the prestigious award from the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development (NCAIED), which recognizes 40 emerging American Indians from across Indian Country who have demonstrated leadership, initiative, and dedication and made significant contributions in business and/or in their community. NCAIED has over 50 years’ experience of assisting American Indian Tribes and tribal people with business and economic development. They have evolved into the largest national Indian specific business organization in the nation.

Their motto is “We Mean Business” and that is evident in their daily work to better the lives of American Indian people – both now and for generations to come.

On September 29th, Hal Hays Construction, Inc. (HHCI) had the privilege of joining the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) Assembly for their 18^th Annual Supplier Diversity En Banc. This exclusive event discussed the benefits of supplier diversity and how CPUC regulated entities implement supplier diversity programs into their supply chain to grow subcontracting businesses of minority backgrounds. Panel participants included board members from major companies like, Southern California Gas Company, Southern California Edison, Pacific Gas & Electric, Frontier, T-Mobile, and more.

As a certified Native-American Owned Business, HHCI was invited by Southern California Gas Company to partake on this important event. HHCI’s President and CEO, Kirby Hays, spoke during the event to discuss subcontracting challenges and inclusivity, the lack of contract transparency, and the strain of adopting new business strategies to keep up with advanced technologies and regulated policy changes in the utility industry in the state of California.

As many other events HHCI has been involved with, the CPUC 18th Annual Supplier Diversity En Banc was held virtually to maintain regulated social distancing for the safety of all those involved during this global pandemic. As a minority owned business, this firm has successfully adapted to the shift of industry to meet the changing demands. Our involvements in major events has not been affected during these times.

Hal Hays Construction, Inc. (HHCI) has recently performed over 150,000 man-hours with no accidents at Leymel Hall U.S Army Reserve Center located in Fresno, California. This $26.5M project was awarded to HHCI in 2016, and encompasses construction of a Training Building (47,650 SF), Maintenance Building (14,500 SF), and a Storage Building (2,700 SF), along with additional other facilities and site features.

Recently, the U.S Army Corps of Engineers sent a letter of acknowledgment to HHCI for their notable safety achievement. “The diligent work by your site safety team has been instrumental in reaching this achievement,” states Administrative Contracting Officer, Kim Sang Hu. “Your team’s attention to detail, enforcement of safety requirements, and ability to get others to become safety conscious are attributes that of a good accident prevention program.”

Hal Hays Construction, Inc. is very proud of the safety record their team has been able to establish on this project.

Moreno Valley, CA – March 6, 2019: Career Day at La Jolla Elementary School

On February 22, 2019, Hal Hays Construction Inc, (HHCI) was honored to participate in the 4^th annual Career Day, hosted by La Jolla Elementary School in Moreno Valley, CA.  This event allowed the students to interact with speakers from a variety of professions such as: construction project manager, air traffic controller, aircraft assembler, ambulance/EMTs, CHP, lawyer, fire department, school counselor, nurse, physical therapist, art director, social worker, US Army, and welding.    

HHCI’s Jason Flowers was proud to share his experience as a Project Manager and explore the exciting opportunities in the Construction Industry.  Approximately 750 students, Grades Tk to 5^th grade participated in this fun-filled event.  

Board President Jesus Holguin and Superintendent Dr. Martinrex Kedziora visited the event.  “Our mission is to prepare students for college and careers,” said Board President Jesus Holguin, “Today’s Career Day at La Jolla Elementary School is important as we expose students to a variety of options they will have in their futures.”

Hal Hays Construction considers this event invaluable, and an effective way to get students excited about a career in construction. HHCI is committed to enriching and inspiring these young students plan for their future education and careers!

Riverside, CA – January 8, 2019 –  Morongo Band of Mission Indians has selected Hal Hays Construction Inc, (HHCI) as the Prime Contractor for the new site improvements and expansion project at the AAA Four-Diamond Morongo Casino, Resort & Spa in Cabazon, CA.

On January 8, HHCI and the Morongo Tribal Chairman Robert Martin, members of the Morongo Tribal Council and a host of dignitaries gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking ceremony for this exciting expansion project.

The 8 Acres of site improvement expansion and renovation work includes:

• Modifications to the Porte Cochere and Main Entrance Area
• Construction of a Temporary Valet area at the east entrance
• Development of a new valet parking structure with 750 spaces, including premier parking and charging stations for more than 70 electric vehicles.
• Site improvements: Demolition of existing roads, site grading, installation of new concrete curb & gutter and sidewalk, new retaining walls, asphalt paving and striping, removal of existing drainage structure and installation of new inlets, manholes and piping.
• West Detention Basing berm and new CMP outlet riser pipe and discharge pipe.

This new expansion will create more than 1,000 construction jobs and it will power the economy by bringing new jobs and revenue to the region.

Riverside-based company honored by National Minority Supplier Development Council

November 5, 2018 – Hal Hays Construction, Inc. was recently honored as the 2018 National Supplier of the Year by the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC).

The Riverside-based company was selected from a field of over 10,000 Diverse Business Enterprises for the prestigious award, which was presented during this year’s NMSDC Conference and Business Opportunity Exchange on Oct. 17 in Austin, Texas.

CEO Kirby S. Hays, who accepted the award on behalf of the company and its more than 200 employees, called the moment an “amazing honor” for both himself and the entire Hal Hays Construction, Inc. family.

“This is a total team award for the HHCI team,” said Hays, whose family’s Native American ancestry traces back to the Cherokee tribe. “From top to bottom, everyone has their fingerprints on this award. This is dedicated to our hardworking team members in the trenches on a daily basis representing our team with pride and delivering world-class projects for our clients.”

Nominated locally by Southern California Edison based on their exceptional performance as a prime vendor for them over the years, Hays hopes the recognition of “leadership and dedication to minority supplier development and to communities of color” helps spur further growth and opportunities for the company.“
