FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 1, 2009 Hal Hays Construction Completes the Renovation of the El Portal Market in Yosemite, CARiverside, California-June 1, 2009-Hal Hays Construction, Inc. (HHCI) has completed the Renovation of El Portal Market project in Yosemite, CA, which was destroyed by fire last year. The project was valued at $866,000.00. HHCI renovated a former National Park Service office facility, and converted the 4,500SF building into a new supermarket and deli. Notable project aspects included constructing , re-framing and updating the interior of the building for new structural members, updating and installing new HVAC and electrical systems, new plumbing, drains and refrigeration systems, new insulation, flooring, finishes, painting, dual glazed glass windows for better energy efficiency, and a new kitchen with stainless steel appliances for the deli. "We were honored to provide a new market to the community", said Hal Hays, President/CEO of HHCI. Over a year before the new market was completed, residents of the community were driving 40 miles out of town to do their grocery shopping. Anticipation of the new store could not keep residents from shopping before the store's official opening. "Somehow word spread, and by the end of the day I think the entire town had come in. It felt like an impromptu party!" commented Kristie Kari, owner of the new market.
